Description of the work

The project involves the refurbishment and safety upgrade of the motorway section on the N13 in the Canton of Graubünden, located between the municipalities of Grono, Cama, Lostallo and Soazza.

The main works under the contract were the removal of obsolete road safety barriers and the supply and installation of new road safety barriers, either driven into the ground (pile driver) or with base plates on a concrete kerb.

In addition, a section of fencing in the municipality of Sorte was upgraded, with the fabrication and installation of a new access gate to the road area. The works were carried out during the day without traffic interruptions, with the support of the competent territorial unit (UT V).

Responsible for the metalwork (flexible barriers and fencing).

Technical features and descriptions

Removal of TI001-type road safety barriers totalling approximately 520 metres, including the supply and installation of connections to the new systems using element L715-1 and 2.

Supply and installation of driven road safety barrier systems totalling approximately 2’400 metres and of systems with base plates on concrete footings totalling approximately 540 metres.

Supply and installation of connecting elements between barriers and concrete walls D 414.

Supply and installation of transition elements from a double box-beam system to a single box-beam system, and of ground-anchored ramped ends 6221 and 6222.

Refurbishment and installation of the existing motorway access gate, including the supply and installation of posts and braces according to the standard drawing of the Canton of Graubünden. Fabrication and installation of approximately 15 metres of URSUS metal fencing with a protective mesh to prevent small animals from entering the motorway area.
