Lot 516 – AlpTransit Gotthard Base Tunnel, Bodio Portal Area – Cooling Ponds

On behalf of our client Mancini & Marti SA, we fabricated and installed various metalwork items at the cooling ponds construction site of the Gotthard Base Tunnel in Bodio.

The purpose of the cooling ponds is to monitor and regulate the temperature of the water coming from the mountain drainage and from the tunnel, so that it can be discharged into the Ticino River in compliance with the parameters set by the Waters Protection Ordinance.

Specifically, we produced all the industrial safety railings for the basins and crossing footbridges (approx. 200 linear metres), trafficable crossing gratings for the maintenance of the facility, façade ventilation gratings for the technical rooms, and sluice gates and weirs to regulate the water inflow.
