Description of the work

The project consisted of building the new water disposal plant for the Ceneri Base Tunnel.

The main works involved the construction of walkways in metal grating with their structural steel supporting structure, fall-protection railings, and stainless steel sluice gates and weirs (automated and manual) for regulating the inflow and outflow of water.

Responsible for the metalwork and for water regulation.

Technical features and descriptions

23 tonnes of steel were produced to form the load-bearing structures for approximately 220 square metres of pedestrian and trafficable gratings.

For the fall protection of operating personnel, approximately 500 linear metres of industrial railings (straight and curved) were produced and installed. For access to and inspection of the tanks, we produced and installed 64 stainless steel safety ladders with back guards.

To regulate the inflow and outflow of water, we produced and installed 29 stainless steel sluice gates and weirs with manual and/or automated control.
